About Washington tides

Puget Sound and the Columbia estuary amplify mixed tides far inland — ranges past 10 ft in the South Sound — with river flow stacked on top.

Washington has 162 NOAA tide stations — 58 reference stations whose predictions come from harmonic analysis of observations there, and 104 subordinate stations calculated from them. The biggest tidal range in the state is at Olympia, Budd Inlet — 14.6 ft between mean higher high water and mean lower low water.
